11 Easy Self-Care Activities For Your Day

Looking for a few self-care activities? In this post, I’m sharing some easy self-care activities to add to your checklist.

When you hear about self-care, you’re probably left wondering exactly how to begin a self-care routine. I’ve been there myself. A regular day off is super busy in this house so I’m always looking for practical self-care activities to treat myself well.

If this is where you are in life, I hope these simple self-care ideas can help as you make yourself a priority.

Self-Care Activities for Your Checklist:

1. Read a good book

At some point, many of us were bookworms. Get back into your love for books by reading a few pages per day.

Reading keeps your imagination soaring and also creates a little space for escape.

Not enough time to read books? I had the same issue at some point. You can check out my post on finding time to read for some tips!

2. Show your car some love

Whether you wash your car at the carwash or in your driveway, it’s all good. Creating a clean and enjoyable environment for yourself is a loving act in itself.

A clean car can also be seen as being a good steward over the blessing you’ve received.

A long time ago, someone told me that how you present your car reveals your emotional state.

I’m not too sure about that even though my car and life was a mess at that time!

But, there’s something about getting into a clean and good smelling car that can reset a mood.

3. Stay in bed an extra 30 minutes

This may seem like a stretch, but any opportunity to gather your thoughts before you start your day is a blessing.

You can use this time to pray, show gratitude, write lists or outline goals.

If you can’t find the time, maybe try this on the weekends or any scheduled day off that you have.

You can check out my Christian morning routine or how I use a gratitude list as part of my morning self-care.

4. Sit in a quiet area for at least ten minutes

Yes, find somewhere quiet and just be present. It can be a corner, the half bath, your car, or a bench in the park.

In a quiet area, you’ll be able to gather your thoughts, refocus, pray or just soak in the beauty that is surrounding you.

I’ve had some of the best ideas or solutions come to me while sitting in a quiet area.

5. Say affirmations

You can use affirmations anytime throughout the day for a boost.

They’re awesome to use in the morning to set YOUR intention so your mood of the day is not steered by others.

For example, here are some quick affirmations you can say:

  • I am proud of myself and am deserving of all the good flowing to me.
  • I am enough.
  • I am ready and prepared for success.
  • I am beautiful and radiate confidence.

6. Say ‘Yes’ to yourself

At times, it is as simple as saying yes to something that you desire. It’s okay to take a chance on yourself if everything makes sense and doesn’t create hardship.

In a way, I think it’s like adding some main character energy to your life and allowing yourself to be the main idea.

For example, I wanted to take a cruise a few years ago. I had the extra funds but denied myself.

Finally, I said ‘YES’ to me, took the trip and had the most enlightening experiences. It was so worth it!

7. Indulge a little in your favorite meal

Sometimes the one thing that settles the soul is good food.

There’s nothing like a good meal from your favorite restaurant or your favorite sweet treat from the local bakery.

On a recent self care day, I indulged on this expensive chicken salad and some of my favorite overpriced oatmeal raisin cookies. I usually make my own chicken salad or cookies, but this was such a nice treat!

Eat, be present and enjoy!

Step outside and get some sunshine!

8. Get a few minutes of sunshine each day

Much of your day may be spent under fluorescent office lights or in the darkness of your home office.

So, it’s a great idea to take a few minutes to get some sunshine and a breath of fresh air.

Additionally, this little break can give your brain time to reset, get a new perspective on an issue or simply have a good laugh.

9. Choose a beautiful scent to greet you as you enter your home

There’s nothing like a good scent to set the mood for your home. You can choose a beautiful scent that gives a cozy vibe and signals it’s time to unwind.

After a breakup, I remember moving to a new apartment and felt so stressed.

My friend gave me few scents and it greatly helped me through the process. The beautiful scents gave me a sense of safety, coziness and warmth.

It’s amazing how an uplifting aroma can do wonders.

10. Drink your water.

Of course, you already know that water is good for your body.

But, are you getting enough water on a daily basis? If not, consider making it a priority at least.

Honestly, I neglected this for a long time and I’m glad that I’m better with my water intake.

Remember, this simple act keeps us flourishing mentally and physically! Enjoy!

11. Be Kind

A smile, a friendly wave or a cheerful greeting can do wonders for others and yourself.

It’s a joy that keeps on giving. Being kind is a random act of kindness that you can practice.

Be a blessing and let your radiance show!

Although self care month is in September, you can find time on a daily basis to show yourself some love.
