Every morning is a blessing from God. However, we are the ones who help set the tone for our day. Our habits help to frame our perspective and a good routine can help! In this post, I’m sharing a simple Christian morning routine to start your day!

Morning Routine for Christians:

Rise, shine and be thankful for waking up

Even though you want to hit the snooze button, waking up to a new day is a blessing. Take a few minutes to be glad you have another chance at another day! This moment is so important to reflect on thoughtfully.

Before you move, just be present and listen to the sounds you hear around you. Listen to the birds, rain, passing traffic, or even the peaceful quiet of your room. Now, take this quiet moment and say a simple thank you to God.

Write down your gratitude

Before you set your eyes on your phone, pause to grab a pen and paper. Write down all that you are grateful for today. You can also use a journal like the Five Minute Journal if that’s more your style.

For me, I write my daily gratitude list each morning on a notepad and it helps to frame my day. I also believe starting the morning with a thankful spirit helps us to grow a closer bond to God.

You can also write down any insight or clarity that God downloaded to you as you slept. I’ve collected so many nuggets of wisdom like that over the years, too!

Meditate on a scripture

Scripture is always available to us. But, it’s ten times better when we can spend a moment digesting it.

You may have a favorite scripture that brings you peace or a verse of the week that you love. Sometimes, a scripture may already be on your heart and you know it’s a Word for you.

One of the things I’ve learned is to not overthink this part. When I can’t think of a verse or find one, I focus on the verse from Psalm 118:24 :

“This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

So refreshing and really helps to set the tone!

Getting ready during your Christian Morning Routine

As you brush your teeth and get dressed, stay present for a bit more. Appreciate your smile, your perfume/cologne or even get excited about wearing your favorite shirt!

You’ll probably be watching the news or traffic report at this point. But, don’t allow any heaviness to overtake you.

I sometimes will turn the tv off or mute it if the news feels too heavy!

Also, a few moments of praise and worship in the morning is a beautiful thing! There was one season where I played the same Yolanda Adams song (Victory) each morning as I got ready.

It would honestly put me in such high spirits and kept my focus on God!

For your morning routine, maybe you can add your favorite Christian song does that for you!

Before Heading Out

I know it’s easy to drink some coffee, nibble on a bagel and call it done. But, before heading out, make sure you have the items you need for your day like: your purse/wallet, keys, lunch, snacks and a bottle of water.

Yep, a bottle of water. It’s always a good idea to make sure your water intake is on point, too!

This was my problem for a long time. So, I started filling up my water bottle that has the time marks and drinking water throughout the day.

Now, that it’s part of my routine, it’s no longer an afterthought when I grab my bags to head out for the day.

Go forth and enjoy your day

Since tomorrow isn’t promised, we only have this very moment. Make today count and leave a bit of joy wherever you go today!
