4 Easy Ways to Create a Peaceful and Inviting Home

This post is all about easy ways to create a peaceful and inviting home for guests.

There’s nothing like enjoying laughter and good conversation in the comfort of your home. Plus, it’s even better when it’s shared between you and your house guests!

I love knowing my guests are having a great time, but I also want to make sure they feel comfortable while visiting my home.

So, here are simple things I like to do along the way to be ready for invited guests and even the unexpected visitors at home.

creating a Peaceful and Inviting home for guests:

1. Set an atmosphere of peace before you enter the door.

There is a simple habit that can guide you in setting an atmosphere of peace and calm in your home.

Whenever you arrive home, leave the worries from your day or bad energy from rush hour traffic at your entry door.

Even if you work from home, keep a designated work area and don’t let the day’s frustrations follow you out of the chair.

For example, at my entry door from the garage, I have a sign with Psalm 91 scripture that I love so much.

Wreath of flowers and feathers with the Psalm 91:4 bible verse in the center.

I bought it about four years ago at Hobby Lobby and knew exactly where I was going to put it!

It reminds me that I’m about to enter a space of protection, peace and refuge. I leave my annoyances and temporary aggravations right there before I enter my home.

When I open my door to greet my guests, I know that peaceful, inviting energy is flowing and excitedly welcoming them into my home.

You can also set a similar reminder like my sign at your entry door. Think of a scripture, mantra, quote or an item that reminds you to leave the drama at the door.

2. There’s nothing more inviting than refreshments.

Always keep refreshments handy. It can be as simple as a small tray of candy like peppermints, dark chocolate or even sugar free candy.

If candy is not your thing, it’s okay. A nice bowl of fruits set out on the kitchen counter can be just as inviting.

Sometimes, if I know my guests love tea, I will set out the tea set and my little “limited” range of teas just in case.

Of course, don’t forget to have some chilled beverages or water to serve your guests.

3. Keep calm by staying ready for unexpected guests.

Let’s face it. There’s always going to be a friend or acquaintance who will arrive at your house with zero notice.

Instead of speed cleaning while they’re ringing the doorbell, try this instead.

Simply make it a habit to tidy up your living room or entryway at night before bed. It is especially helpful on the weekends if you have a guest that pops up out of the blue.

When you open the door, you’ll feel confident that your house is looking in order and have a calmer spirit when they enter.

There may still be chaos in the other rooms of the house but no one needs to go in there, haha. That’s at least how I think of it!

4. Don’t have unnecessary noise in your peaceful and inviting home.

Once your guests are settled and feeling welcomed, the last thing needed is unnecessary noise to ruffle any feathers or dampen the joyful mood in the air.

By unnecessary noise, I mean the television. I actually prefer to visit with my guests without the tv on. I don’t like weighing down the mood if there’s nothing but negative news being broadcast.

Also, if you’re not looking to debate issues, then tough or tense topics can interrupt the mood too much.

If you like the background noise from tv, that’s cool. Keeping the tv on a pleasant station like a game show or a Youtube channel that streams peaceful music can be a good solution.

Whether it’s for a quick visit or an overnight stay, I hope these tips help your home feel a bit more inviting to your guests.
