As adults, we often forget about the Mother’s Day cards we made as kids and messy breakfasts that we served mom. You can still make the day special for your mom without fancy dinner or spa reservations! If you’re looking for simple ways to celebrate Mother’s Day at home, then I’m sharing a few ideas to try this year.

Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day at Home:

Celebrate with Mother’s Day Brunch

Food really helps to set the mood for a Mother’s Day celebration at home. You can still enjoy your favorite dishes from the comfort of your dining room. If the weather is great, you can also create an ideal setting on the patio, porch, carport or an open garage!

In this house, we’re brunch fanatics so you already know that it will be part of the celebratory lineup. You can opt for:

  • Coffee and donuts.
  • a pre-made fruit & veggie tray from your local grocery store with a sweet treat like donuts. (Sorry, I have a natural sweet tooth!)
  • Make a brunch cheese board with croissants, your mom’s favorite deli meats, grapes, strawberries, kiwi, etc.
  • Or, cook a full brunch menu of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, croissants, French toast, mini pancakes, or waffles with topping options of syrup or fruit. You can serve your mom’s favorite hot coffee or set out a pitcher or two of juice!
    • Note: I always love to include Krogers’ Sliced Vanilla loaf cake on the menu (our fave!).

Tip: If you’re feeling creative, give mom a handmade Mother’s Day card for that nostalgic effect!

Enjoy Mother’s Day Lunch or Dinner with Mom

If brunch is not your mom’s favorite setup, then maybe a nice meal for lunch or dinner can be a thing. You can order from your mom’s favorite restaurant, do a curbside pickup and head over to your mom’s place.

Set a nice floral arrangement as the centerpiece and enjoy a great meal at home together.

Again, if the weather is nice out, go enjoy the view of your mom’s beautiful yard and dine privately on the patio, balcony or under the carport.

Spa Day for Mom at Home

If dining at home doesn’t sound fun, then maybe creating an “on demand” spa setting to pamper your mom is ideal.

You all can enjoy face masks and a nice foot soak while enjoying a delicious fruit plate. Adding in a spa robe gift set for your mom may be an even nicer bonus. You can also present the items in a gift basket so she can enjoy them at her leisure!

Afternoon Tea to Celebrate Mother’s Day at Home

If your mom’s a fan of Bridgerton or Downton Abbey, then afternoon tea may be up her alley!

A nice cup of mint tea, tasty sandwich and a pastry can keep the celebrations going! It doesn’t require much: a serving platter of sandwiches and pastries, a few tea cups (or coffee mugs) and your favorite tea.

My mom and I love Downton Abbey, but we haven’t ever watched Bridgerton! Gasp. I know right!?

Tip: You can make afternoon tea and enjoy a movie of her choice together!

Don’t forget flowers for Mother’s Day

Flowers are still a hit on Mother’s Day. So, don’t forget about them!

Feel free to show your love with a beautiful flower arrangement! You can order a simple floral bouquet and have it delivered to your mom as one of her gifts.

If you’re on a budget, you can buy some inexpensive flowers (faux or real) and make your own floral arrangement instead.

I actually love Paper & Stitch’s DIY Bouquet tutorial that shows you how to make a bouquet for Mother’s Day!

This year, I may actually make an attempt at arranging some flowers myself. I believe my mom may appreciate the effort…even if they come out horrid like the gifts I made as a kid. Haha!

Enjoy Each Moment with Your Mom

Even if you don’t have a large gathering this year, it’s wonderful that there are other ways to celebrate Mother’s Day. The best thing about these ideas is that you can still celebrate your mom even if you’re unavailable.

You can drop off a delicious meal to your mom to dine with her on your lunch break, send flowers, or pop in virtually for tea time.

The opportunity to see your mom smile today is a blessing. Make every moment count as you enjoy this time with your family.

Well, that’s all for now. I hope these ideas inspire you on your journey to creating a memorable Mother’s Day celebration at home!
