Whether you’re single or taken, Galentine’s Day is a great day for bonding with your friends. This day is also an excellent day for bonding with yourself! In this post, let’s talk about celebrating Galentine’s Day with a self-care twist for one.

Well, What is Galentine’s Day?

According to National Today, Galentine’s Day occurs on February 13th and is a day of celebrating our “female friendships we so heavily rely on”.  Plus, here’s another interesting fact: it originated on the tv show, Parks and Recreation. Isn’t that cute?!

Why have a Galentine’s Day of Self Care?

For many, Valentine’s Day itself can be a bit stressful as a significant other may not buy you a gift and if single, it is a day that you may not even celebrate.

Galentine’s Day of Self Care is an ideal time to treat yourself! I think it’s important to set aside a day for self-care. We far too often place less priority on ourselves and disregard our own needs.

Plus, it’s so easy to make it a two day celebration of self-care from Feb 13 – Feb 14! Why not?!

For me, I have grown to enjoy my last few self-care Galentine’s Day. It allows me to reflect and appreciate how far I’ve come emotionally.

A long time ago, an ex told me that I did not deserve anything on Valentine’s Day and he literally would ignore me on that day. Yet, I would still try to prove myself as deserving. A mess!

It’s laughable now, but I thank God that I broke away from that foolish guy.

But, it also makes me wonder just how many awesome ladies are being told they are undeserving. That possibility scares me because every person deserves love, attention and affection!

Whether you’re single or coupled, self care on Galentine’s Day may be a great start to simply focus on yourself for once.
