Light and Easy Spring Cleaning

Letterboard showing Spring Cleaning Vibes

Don’t you just love spring? It’s filled with the beautiful sounds of birds, warmth of the sun and that printable spring cleaning list resting on your desk. I honestly prefer to ignore that spring cleaning list and enjoy everything else. But, Spring has a way of bringing that beautiful sunshine and revealing that our spaces aren’t ready for greatness.

Fortunately, I’m sure we all have a few weekly or daily routines that help us clean our spaces. So, there’s no need to create too much fuss in getting our homes sunshine ready.

To be clear, I hate being overwhelmed so the thought of a massive deep cleaning never excites me. So, today I’m sharing a few tips on how I ease into cleaning each Spring to refresh my space.

When Spring cleaning, here are the main things that I focus on:

Shredding junk mail is a spring cleaning priority.

Grab your shredder and get to work, girl. It’s time to remove all the expired credit card offers, old coupons, and tattered holiday catalogs that are hiding in plain sight. Sort, shred and dispose/recycle.

Most importantly, your end table and entry table will thank you later.

Wiping dust from baseboards and window sills.

I typically clean all baseboards/sills in June. But for spring cleaning, I only clean the baseboards and sills in the rooms that I frequently use (living room/master bedroom). It helps me enjoy sunny rooms more and keeps my house presentable.

Actually, I prefer to clean them with a cloth by hand but I also have a little baseboard cleaner tool that helps a lot.

Cleaning the microwave.

When my microwave is clean inside and out, the world lights up even on a cloudy day! This appliance works hard everyday and deserves some TLC, haha. I don’t believe I need to say anything else except clean the darn microwave!

Cleanout and wipe down refrigerator.

My fridge cleaning in spring is very simple. I quickly toss out leftovers, diet foods that I failed and anything half open/eaten/unidentifiable. Then, I wipe down the inside and outside of the fridge.

So simple yet helps to lift the positive vibes in the room. The sunlight bounces off a clean fridge even better…just my opinion (hehe).

Finalize Spring Cleaning with a Scent

As a final touch, I always find a nice spring scented air freshener and I love anything with hints of pear, cucumber or melon!

Well, there you have it. That was my light weight spring routine that helps get my home sunshine ready! I hope this post gave you a little hope that spring cleaning can be light.

P.S. Hey friend, if the shoe fits … put away that Christmas tree. You’ve decorated it for Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, Easter and your best friend’s baby shower. It’s time to put it away. I said all of this with love!! Take care!
